Utena is a center of Utena district which seizes territory of 1229 sq. km. More than 32000 citizens live there in Utena city while in all district there are approximately 47700 inhabitants. Utena is famous for its hosiery products, brewery and horse sports. Nowadays Utena is titled as a capital of Eastern Higher Lithuania. A golden horseshoe in its blazon symbolizes the luck and harmony of the city.


If you want to see a city in a park, visit Alytus. It is the largest city in Southern Lithuania located between green forests and fields.  It is called the capital of Dzūkija  ethnographic region. In Alytus there live approximately 68000 inhabitants. The city occupies territory of 40 sq.km. Alytus is divided into 2 parts separated by the largest Lithuanian river Nemunas. The bigger part of the city is located on the left shore of the river.

National Museum Of Lithuania

Lithuanian National Museum is the oldest museum in the country which is located in buildings of the complex of Vilnius castles. Although it includes many subdivisions, the main 3 are the New Arsenal, the Old Arsenal and the Tower of Gediminas Castle.  Thousands of people are passing by there every day and most of them do not even realize what curios and prehistoric relicts are kept in here.

Contemporary Art Centre (CAC)

The largest modern art center in Baltic states as well as in Post-Soviet Europe is located in Vilnius Old Town, in the famous Vokiečių (German)street. The centre was established in order to improve development of contemporary art in Lithuania and successfully integrate into context of World art and is called the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC).


Šiauliai is the 4th biggest Lithuanian city located in North Lithuania. There are approximately 130000 inhabitants living in the 81 km2 area of the city. Despite being in North Lithuania, Šiauliai is called the City of Sun because of some historical circumstances. Šiauliai citizens are very proud of their city and are always happy to welcome city guests while showing them the best what they have.


Panevėžys is the fifth largest Lithuanian city located in an ethnographic region of Aukštaitija. There are approximately  116200 inhabitants living in the area of 50 km2. Panevėžys is straight in the half way between two capitals – Vilnius and Riga and is easy reachable by the highway Via Baltica connecting the city with number of Western Europe and Scandinavian countries. The city was named after the river as this green and cosy city lies on the bank of river Nevėžis.


Klaipėda is the third biggest city in Lithuania located on the coalescence of the Curonian Lagoon and The Baltic Sea, 311 km north west from the Capital Vilnius. A gross nonfreezing sea harbor is established in Klaipėda so the city is one of the main Lithuanian economic centers and a very important transit knot.


Kaunas in Lithuania is well known as a Provisional Capital and is famous for its basketball team “Žalgiris”, a Kaunas Zoo,  the central street called Freedom Avenue (Laisvės alėja) and local townspeople`s pride of their city. Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania established on the confluence of two largest  Lithuanian rivers Neris and Nemunas.

Vilnius - The Capital Of Lithuania

Vilnius is the Capital of Lithuania located in the center of Europe which is both contemporary and ancient, rich in architecture, historical monuments, culture heritage, thematic festivals and entertainments. Vilnius is the fastest growing capital in the Baltic States, aspiring to become the most attractive political, business and culture center between Lithuania neighbor countries. A very significant step in reaching this purpose is becoming the European Capital of Culture 2009.
