Secrets of Luokesai Lake Bottom

3 kilometers South from Molėtai there is a Luokesai lake. It distinguishes with its clear water, beautiful environment and quietness, thus local inhabitants and Molėtai city guests like the resort created here a lot. However,  the lake is even more beloved by underwater archeologists nowadays as the Luokesai lake was revealed to hide the entire settlements from Stone and Bronze Ages at its deep bottom.

Lokės pėda (Bear Foot) Adventure Park

Anyone looking for exciting experience in the wild is welcome to Lokės pėda adventure park.  The park was established in 2005  in the village of Lokėnėliai (Jonava district).  It have deserved well of many visitors already. The sound about the park spreads from lips to lips in Lithuania. Plenty of good recommendations is not a well organized publicity campaign – it is a guarantee that everyone coming to this park will enjoy the time here a lot.

Verkiai Regional Park

Verkiai regional park is located within the pale of Vilnius city and it is easy and fast reachable from the center of capital by car. The park occupies 2670 hectares and for many people from Western Europe it should look like a real miracle that in such a big city such a marvelous nature recess including historical heritage monuments could be found. Both, nature and cultural beauty here in the park is located thus it is more and more popular place to visit on free time.

Pašiliai Wisent Breeding Reservoir

The wisent is the biggest wild animal now living in Europe. A giant of usually 3 meters length, 2 m height and 1 tone weight would undoubtedly make an unforgettable impression once unexpectedly met in a wild forest. However, the possibility to meet it in a wild nature is pretty small as this breed now is on a strict preservation. It is one of vanishing species preserved and breed mostly in special reservoirs, parks or zoos.

Dūkštai Oak Wood

Oak was always an extraordinary tree in lands of Balts as well as in Lithuanian pagan mythology. Thus,  since pagan times the mystic respect is felt to this tree among Lithuanians. It was believed that gods appeared in holts of oaks so it was forbidden even to chip a small oak spray. Miracle holts were often used as places to pray, oaks were thought to take souls of departed. There is no doubt that oak as a tree is an important part of Lithuanian mythology and still is very meaningful.

Pavilniai Regional Park

Pavilniai Regional Park is located in the valley of river Vilnia in Vilnius.  The valley is delighting with its spectacular landscape, abstruse and variegated slopes. It  was accredited to be included into list of valuable nature objects revealing ecological and cultural heritage.  There are many wild fauna and flora species that are protected by European Wild Nature and Environment Safety Convention.  In addition to this, the Pavilniai Regional Park includes objects of historical heritage.

Nemunas

The longest Lithuanian river is Nemunas, called the father of rivers. It is the biggest and the most important river in Lithuania used for fishery and transporting. Nemunas outflows from the Belarus territory. In this Lithuanian neighbor country the river is called Nioman.

Drūkšiai Lake

The biggest lake in Lithuania named Drūkšiai is located in Zarasai district crossing the borderline between Lithuania and Belarus and faces to borderline between Lithuania and Latvia too. This record lake is the biggest not only in the area it holds, but in capacity of water too. The lake has an interesting history as well as the present.

Žemaitija National Park

Žematija National Park is located in the North western Lithuania. It is a gorgeous nature recess occupying an area of almost 22 thousand hectares . Trakai Historical National Park

The Trakai Historical National Park is extremely close to the city of Vilnius and is a one among the total of five national parks that Lithuania has and is the smallest among them. The main distinguishing feature of the Trakai Historical National Park is mere twenty five kilometres from the capital city of Lithuania called Vilnius. This is that it is situated in Trakai that also happened to be the ancient centre of all political activity in Lithuania.
