Verkiai Palace

Lithuanians consider Verkiai Regional Park to be a legendary place of ancient pagans where famous magus Lizdeika was born. The magus is famous for prediction about  Vilnius city. In the Verkiai Regional park there is a Verkiai Palace located which is a famous neo classicism style building located on a steep of Neris river.

Biržai Castle

The Biržai castle is the best preserved bastion fort in Lithuania located in Biržai town, the North of Lithuania. It is a renaissance building which is a cultural and architectural monument.

Holocaust Exposition

Establishers of the Holocaust exposition called “The Catastrophe” have raised a question: “What did it mean to be a Jew in 1941-1944 in Lithuania?“. The answer can be found in the Holocaust exposition in Vilnius which tells about the life in Lithuania of Jew national minority since their arrival until their tragic ruin in the middle of 20th century.

Tolerance Center

One of the most important departments of Vilna Gaon Jewish State Museum in Lithuania is the Tolerance center in Vilnius. The name of the center tells volumes for its` main purpose to spread tolerance, comprehension, sensibility and other values in a society.

Kretinga Museum

Kretinga is well known as a town where plenty of folk and architectural monuments can be seen. It is famous for its old monasteries, churches, cultural life, beautiful environment and perfect geographic location. But one of the most famous objects located there is the Kretinga Museum established in a beautiful palace of count Tiškevičius. The most valuable spiritual and material treasures  of Lithuanian culture and heritage are here exposed.

Rainiai Memorial

3 kilometers far from Telšiai there is a Rainiai village. The village is marked with several inhuman historical facts.  In memory for those who survived here the Rainiai Memorial was built. The memorial temple holds authentic relicts, documents of the brutal act which was held there.

Paneriai Memorial Museum

Paneriai Memorial Museum is a subsidiary of National Vilnius Gaon Jewish Museum. It is located just 16 kilometers from Vilnius city center. It is a little building standing in the same place where Soviets decided to establish a military base during the Second World War. 7 deep potholes were prepared for stores of liquid fuel there. The same potholes, however, were used for other purposes by Nazis.

The Ninth Fort

Some terrible historical facts will never be forgotten. Genocide case implemented by Nazi was one of the most brutal criminal actions against humanity. Sadly, it was not a unique and the first such case in history, there are several nations in the world that faced this horror. However, the international Jewish genocide was the largest ever and took approximately 11 million victims. The most significant monument of genocide in Lithuania is the Ninth fort in Kaunas.

Klaipėda Castle

Klaipėda castle was the main unit in Klaipeda for centuries. It was the first building erected in the city which around other buildings and fieldworks were built. In 2002 a historical museum was opened in the castle. There are several expositions, telling visitors about the stages of processes of  Klaipeda city and Klaipeda castle.

The Museum of Genocide Victims

Lithuania has faced a lot of historic trials during its national existence. One of the most damaging and painful experiences was the Soviet Occupation in 1940-1990 when the Lithuanian independence, sovereignty and political system was inhumanly despoiled by the Soviet military forces. In order to mention those who suffered during the occupation and to collect the documents and other materials that tell the cruel historic truth about the genocide against the Lithuanian inhabitants, the Museum of Genocide Victims was set up in 1992.
