Church of St. Catherine

Vilnius is a capital city where there is a surprisingly big number of beautiful and historically as well as architecturally valuable churches concentrated. Church of St. Catherine is one of the main “exhibits” of Vilnius` church “collection”. It is famous not only for its` baroque and rococo forms, but also for amazing inside acoustics and brilliant music performances that here are often held.

St. Michael the Archangel Church

A distinguishing church of roman-byzantine style standing in the very center of Kaunas city is the St. Michael the Archangel Church which is better known as Kaunas sobor. Although it is now a Roman Catholic church it is closely related with Russian orthodox customs because basically it was built by Russian empire.

Trinapolis Church and Monastery

In Vilnius Verkiai regional park there an old baroque ensemble of Trinapolis church and monastery is located. Everyone going down the Verkiai street pays an attention to a beautiful church decorating shores of Neris river. The two tower church and an oblong rectangular moanstery welcome visitors to go upstairs and admire the mistyc atmsphere around there.

Šiauliai Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul

The Šiauliai Cathedral is one of the most visited by pilgrims prayer house in Lithuania. There is nothing to be surprised about: located really close to the main center of pilgrimage attraction, the Hill of Crosses, Šiauliai Cathedral is almost always visited by pilgrims for confession after their visit to Hill of Crosses.

Church of St. John

One of the most impressive baroque churches, located in Vilnius city which is also called the city of churches, is the Church of St. John. Beautifully integrated into composition of Vilnius University architectural complex it distinguishes in its architectural beauty and in including one of the highest structures in Vilnius Old Town – the bell tower.

Tytuvėnai Church and Monastery

Tytuvėnai is a little town located in North West Lithuania. Only a bit more than two and a half thousand inhabitants live there. The town is special for being a pilgrimage center where magnificent ensemble of Saint Mary the Virgin church and monastery stands.  Tytuvėnai Church and Monastery is an architectural masterpiece which is thought to be one of the most beautiful baroque monuments in North East Europe. Thus it attracts pilgrims from all over the world.

Ensemble of Pažaislis church and monastery

The ensemble of Pažaislis church and monastery is one of the most impressive architectural examples of late Italian baroque in North East Europe.  For this beautiful masterpiece now we should be thankful for the  Great Chancellor Krzysztof Zygmunt Pac of Grand Duchy of Lithuania who founded it in 1662.

The Gate of Dawn

The Gate of Dawn is one of the most important religious, historical and cultural monuments in Vilnius which is a tourism object of even cosmic religious importance. The Gate of Dawn is widely well known for the miracle painting of The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of Mercy  located in the Gate of Dawn chapel.

The Jesuit Church of St. Casimir

In front of the Town Hall square, near the most attended  Vokiečių (German) and Pilies (Castle)  streets in Vilnius, the astonishing baroque masterpiece stands for more than 400 years already. It is the beautiful church of St. Casimir. It is not only a place to pray for congregation, but also a sanctum of sacral music and art.

 

Church of St. John the Baptist

The most attention catching focus in Plungė`s Old Town is the marvelous premise of Church of St. John the Baptist. It is a significant architectonic surplus for the Plungė city as well as for the all district of Plungė. The church is of neo – romanesque style built under Latin cross-plan including two gorgeous towers.
